We would like to welcome everyone to our class page, we will be using this page to show you what we have been learning in class and on school trips. Our teachers Miss Fallon and Mrs Cusack will be helping us to keep this page up-to-date. We hope you enjoy sharing in our learning with us!!
Dynamic Earth
This Year, Mrs Cusack received a Golden Ticket for the school which allowed classes to visit Dynamic Earth and take part in workshops to support the learning in class. Primary 6 took part in Earth and Space workshops to further develop their knowledge of space and the world around them.
Science as Engineers
All of Primary 6 from both classes have been working on a Science project which we will present to judges at St Augustine’s on December 11th.
We have been developing our teamwork skills, listening and talking skills as well as increasing our knowledge of science in the world around us.
The task was to “Design something that makes life safer for people in the world.”
First, a science teacher from St Augustine’s visited our school and told us all about the competition.
Then we had to work as a team to generate our ideas. This took a few weeks.
Now we have been able to start building our models! Here is a sneak peek at some of the designs.
Waitrose Visit 23.11.15
Primary 6 had the opportunity to visit the Waitrose in Comely bank to learn about healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle. We got to explore the shop and see how the shop was run which helps us understand our enterprising class theme this term. We learnt how to read labels on shop products to determine how healthy the products are. We also learnt about different food groups and how to maintain a healthy balanced diet.
We would like to thank the staff at Waitrose Comely bank for inviting us along to learn within their store.
Edinburgh Castle Visit- 24.11.15
We visited Edinburgh Castle to celebrate St Andrew’s Day. We learnt about the life and times of St Andrew and how his life is celebrated today.
As well as this, we learnt about flags and how they link to countries and also about Scottish Heroes. A Medieval knight taught us about Scottish heroes and took us a tour of the Castle. We really enjoyed this trip and would like to thank the staff of Edinburgh Castle.
