Active Numeracy

We have been revisiting and consolidating working with numbers to 30 and beyond.  We have been counting out amounts, looking for dot patterns, writing out number stories of number bonds and playing games to count up and down the number line.

We had some of our parents visit us last Friday during our Sharing Our Learning event and we had them join in with our numeracy tasks.

World’s Biggest Lesson

Back in September we participated in The World’s Biggest Lesson.  These meant us thinking about ways in which we could build a fairer, greener world for all.

The children were very keen to make sure that all people had access to clean water, an education and good healthcare.

Some of the ways we could make this happen were by cleaning up lakes and rivers, giving away our toys to those who had none, building good roads so that people could travel to get healthcare and using organic material (poo) as an energy source!

The class were very good at sharing ideas and we illustrated these in groups to display in our classroom.

Martha and our Author Visit!

Primary four have had a very busy start to the week! On Monday we were lucky enough  to take a trip to North Edinburgh Arts with P3 and P4/5 to see a show named ‘Martha’. The show was about the unlikely friendship between a woman and a goose! The children thoroughly enjoyed the show and all rated it five stars!!

Afte lunch we were treated to a Author Visit from Shane Hegarty, author of Darkmouth series. We were lucky enough to ask him lots of questions about his writing and future books. Shane’s humorous and monster-filled books excited and inspired a lot of children!

Macmillan Bake Sale

Just a quick note to thank all parents and children for all of their amazing efforts for our Macmillan School bake sale! Primary four made such a wonderful contribution, raising lots of money for the cancer charity. All cakes and treats went down a storm so well done and thank you to Primary 4 and their families!

Reminders:Homework will be given out on Mondays and is to be handed in on Fridays. Our P.E days will be Monday and Thursday. Please make sure your child has appropriate kit with them on these days.

So far primary four has been packed with exciting experiences for us all! This video will give you a wee insight into what we’ve been up to. I look forward to getting to know all children and can’t wait to see what they can do!
