Festive Period – Foodbanks and other services­

During the festive period there will be some changes to the timings of Edinburgh Food Project foodbanks and those in our network. We have compiled a list of those open and their timings below.  Monday 23 December:  Broughton 1pm – 3pm, Clermiston 5:30pm – 7pm, Pilton 1pm – 3pm, Blythwood Care South East 10am – 1:30pm and South Leith Parish Church 1pm – 2:30pm Tuesday 24 December – Clermiston 1pm – 3pm, Craigmillar 10:30am – 1pm and Grassmarket 2pm – 4pm Wednesday 25 December – All Closed Thursday 26 December  – All Closed Friday 27 December – Grassmarket 2pm – 4pm and Pilton 10am – 12pm Saturday 28 December – Closed Sunday 29 December  – Closed Monday 30 December – Broughton 1pm – 3pm, Clermiston 5:30pm – 7pm, Pilton 1pm – 3pm, Blythwood Care South East 10am – 11:30am, South Leith Parish 1pm – 3:30pm, Prestonfield 1:30pm – 3:30pm (extra session) and  South Queensferry 11am – 1pm (extra session) Tuesday 31 December – Clermiston 1pm – 3pm, Grassmarket 2pm – 4pm and Leith St Andrews 1pm – 2:30pm Wednesday 1 January –  All Closed Thursday 2 January  – All Closed Friday 3 January  – Craigmillar 10:30am – 1pm, Grassmarket 2pm – 4pm, Salvation Army Gorgie 10am – 12pm and Pilton 10:00-1am – 12pm Saturday 4 January– Closed             Sunday 5 January – Closed Monday 6 January – All Foodbanks back to usual schedule   In addition to our foodbanks, there is further support available over the Christmas period which we’ve sought to pull together to share with yourselves. While this is not an extensive list, hopefully it can provide some useful signposting resources for your clients:  Social Bite – A two-course meal and presents are available on both Christmas Eve (24 December) and Christmas Day (25 December) with options to sit in or takeaway open between 12pm – 4pm. Please note that providing details of attendance ahead of time is always appreciated but not mandatory. Soul Food Edinburgh – They are running hot, freshly prepared meals which are open to everyone with no referral needed from the 22nd, 23rd, 26th, 29th and 30th December. Samaritans – Their helpline remain open every day of the year providing a safe and non-judgemental space to be listened to for anyone wanting somebody to speak to. Crisis at Christmas – If someone is already a member, Crisis are providing essential services and companionship for people experiencing homelessness over the Christmas Period.
